Kovalam Beach

Vizhinjam Lighthouse

Vizhinjam Lighthouse is located in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, India. It is the tallest lighthouse in India and the third tallest in the world. It was constructed to replace an earlier one which had been built on an island at a distance from Vizhinjam harbor.

The lighthouse was built by British engineers between 1887 and 1889 using materials brought from England by ship via Suez Canal. The structure consists of two towers joined by a central tower containing six floors (as well as two staircases). The total height exceeds 180 metres (590 ft).

Halcyon Castle was built by Raja Raja Chola II (also known as Kulothunga Chola) during his reign from 1012-1063 CE when he took control over all northern parts of India including parts of Assam, Odisha and Tamil Nadu. The castle had two towers called “Bharatapur” meaning “India Tower” which stood at its entrance gateways leading up to a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu where its king prayed everyday before beginning work each day on behalf of his subjects

Aruvikkara Dam is located in Thrissur district of Kerala. The dam was built across the Chalakkudy River, which flows through Thrissur town and Chalakkudy village. It is used for irrigation and flood control purposes.
