1. Tajmahal (Touring Agra)

The Taj Mahal is an ivory-colored marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna River in the Indian city of Agra. In 1632 the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (r. 1628-1658) commissioned his favorite wife, Mumtaz, to enshrine the tomb of his Mahal. The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (r. 1628–58) to his wife Mumtaz Mahal (“Chosen of the Palace”) who died in childbirth in 1631 and had been the emperor’s inseparable consort since their marriage. Opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes before sunset during normal days.

Tajmahal is closed on Friday.

2. Agra fort (visiting places in Agra)

Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra, India. It was the main residence of Mughal emperors until the capital was moved from Agra to Delhi in 1638. 3. Itmad- ud-Daulah (visiting places in Agra)

Itimad-ud-Daula was a title given to Nur Jahan’s father, Mirza Ghiyath Beg. He held the rank of Treasure Lord of the Empire and was later promoted to the rank of Wazir under Jahangir. Nur Jahan completed the construction of his father’s tomb in 1628, nearly seven years after his father’s death. The Tomb of Itimad Ud Daulah was built by Mughal Queen Nur Jahan between 1622 and 1628 where her father Itimad Ud Daulah was buried. It’s one of best tourist places in Agra.

4. Jama Masjid Agra (Experiencing Agra’s landmarks)

The mosque was part of several imperial reconstruction projects to improve the then-Mughal capital Agra. It was built in 1648 by Jehanara Begum, daughter of Shah Jahan. It is located near the famous Agra Fort. One of the largest mosques built in India by the Mughals, he is of particular importance as it employs Iranian architectural elements. 5. Jama masjid fatehpur Sikri (visiting places in Agra)

Fatehpur Sikri was the first planned to be characterized by grand administrative, residential, and religious buildings consisting of palaces, public buildings, mosques, courts, armies, the king’s servants, and living quarters throughout the city. 6. Tomb of Mariam-uz-zamani (Touring Agra)

The tomb was built in her memory by her son Jahangir between 1623 and 1627 and is located at Sikandra next to Akbar’s tomb on the way to Mathura. She is the only wife buried near Akbar. 9. Moti masjid (visiting places in Agra)

The Moti Masjid was built by Shah Jahan (ruled 1628-1658) at the highest point of the Agra Fort Complex. Completed in 1655, it took him seven years to build. It is a small white marble structure built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir and remodeled by Shah Jahan’s architects. Motim Masjid (literally “Pearl Mosque”) is his 17th-century congregational mosque located within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Agra Fort. Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, the mosque is made entirely of white marble.
