1. Derajaswami Temple
The Devarajaswamy Temple at the eastern end of Kanchipuram is about 76 kilometers from Chennai. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple was built by the Vijaynagar empire. The 10-meter-tall idol of Lord Vishnu was brought out for a devotee’s darshan every 40 years, but was last taken out in 1979. It was a memorable event for the temple.
2. Varadaraja Perumal Temple
Varadharaja Perumal Temple was built in 1053 during the reign of King Chola. It was later expanded by the Chola Kings, Krotunga Chola I and King Vikrama.
